Public Holiday
A nationally or regionally observed day off, such as New Year's Day or Independence Day.
Public holidays (also called statutory or bank holidays) are days recognized by a country or region on which many businesses close and employees typically don't work.
Good leave systems exclude public holidays from PTO calculations so a holiday never counts against an employee's balance.
Example: If Christmas Day falls inside an employee's vacation, it shouldn't be deducted from their PTO.
In Orvella: Orvella applies public-holiday calendars for 200+ countries and skips them automatically when calculating leave.
