Accrual

Earning leave gradually over time — for example, a set number of hours per pay period.

Accrual is the method by which employees earn paid leave incrementally rather than receiving it all at once. The accrual rate determines how much leave is added each period (per hour worked, per pay period, monthly, or annually).

Accrual is considered the fairest method for hourly and part-time staff because the amount earned scales with the time actually worked.

Example: A policy of 120 hours/year paid bi-weekly accrues about 4.62 hours of PTO each pay period.

In Orvella: Orvella accrues leave automatically on whatever schedule you set and posts each accrual to the ledger.
