Absenteeism
A pattern of frequent or unplanned absence from work, beyond normal approved leave.
Absenteeism is habitual or unscheduled absence from work — distinct from planned, approved time off. High absenteeism can signal disengagement, burnout, or workplace issues, and it carries real cost through lost productivity and cover.
Tracking absence patterns (frequency, timing, and reasons) helps employers spot problems early and respond fairly, rather than penalising one-off genuine sick days.
Example: An employee who calls in sick most Mondays shows a pattern worth a supportive conversation.
In Orvella: Orvella records every absence against an auditable history, so managers see real patterns instead of guessing.
