Sick Leave
Paid (or unpaid) time off specifically for illness, injury, or medical appointments.
Sick leave is time off set aside for an employee's own illness or, in many policies, to care for a sick family member. Some jurisdictions mandate a minimum amount of paid sick leave.
Sick leave is often tracked separately from vacation so usage patterns are clear and any legal minimums are met.
Example: An employee taking two paid days to recover from the flu is using sick leave.
In Orvella: Orvella tracks sick leave as its own leave type with its own rules, separate from vacation.
