Volunteer Time Off (VTO)

Paid time off employers give staff specifically to volunteer for charitable causes.

Volunteer Time Off (VTO) is a benefit that grants paid hours or days for employees to volunteer with nonprofits or community causes. It supports social-impact goals and is increasingly used to attract and retain values-driven staff.

VTO is usually a separate allowance from regular PTO, often a fixed number of days per year, and may require manager approval like any other leave.

Example: A company offering two paid VTO days a year for staff to help at local charities.

In Orvella: Orvella supports custom leave types, so VTO can be its own balance with its own rules and approvals.
