Unlimited PTO

A policy with no fixed cap on paid time off — employees take what they need with approval.

Unlimited PTO removes the set allowance: instead of accruing a balance, employees request time off as needed, subject to manager approval and business needs.

It reduces admin and removes payout liability, but relies on a healthy culture and clear norms — without them, people may take too little. Tracking usage is still important to spot under- or over-use.

Example: An employee at an unlimited-PTO company books a two-week trip with their manager's approval, with no balance deducted.

In Orvella: Even with a flexible policy, Orvella records every request and approval so you retain visibility and an audit trail.
