Jury Duty Leave

Time off so an employee can serve on a jury, often legally protected and sometimes paid.

Jury duty leave is time off granted when an employee is summoned for jury service. In many jurisdictions employers must allow the time and cannot penalise the employee, though whether it is paid varies by location and policy.

Clear policy on documentation (the summons) and whether pay is topped up avoids confusion when an employee is called.

Example: An employee summoned for a week of jury service takes protected jury duty leave.

In Orvella: Jury duty can be its own non-deductible leave type in Orvella, tracked separately from PTO.
